When to spay or neuter?

Responsible veterinarians that are truly concerned for your individual dog's health, life-span, and quality of life will recommend spaying or neutering after their hormones have allowed their bones, muscles, and joints to reach their full potential. These hormones are responsible for skeletal growth among other essential development.
For a Portuguese Water Dog, this occurs between 1-2 years of age.
