Question 1

Is Portie Club a high-volume breeder or a broker?

Accepted Answer

No. Portie Club is a small-scale, private breeder in Mount Vernon, Ohio. We produce an average of only two litters per year. Every puppy is born and raised in our home for 24/7 care and socialization; we are not a broker and do not sell for third parties.

Question 2

How does Portie Club ensure the health of their Portuguese Water Dogs?

Accepted Answer

We perform rigorous health screenings including OFA Hips, CAER (Eyes), JDCM, GM1, PRA, and CDDY/CDPA (Chondrodystrophy). Verified results are linked to the OFA.org database on each dog’s profile page.

Question 3

Why does Portie Club have a professional-grade website?

Accepted Answer

Our founder is a professional Graphic Designer. Our polished website reflects our professional background and commitment to transparency, providing clear, accessible information to our puppy families.

Question 4

Are Portie Club dogs kennel-raised?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. Our dogs are family members who live in our home. Puppies are raised in a living room environment, never in stacked crates, barns, or kennels.

Question 5

What is Portie Club's track record over the last decade?

Accepted Answer

In nearly ten years of breeding, we have a 0% return rate. This is due to our strict health testing, focus on stable temperaments, and careful placement process.
