Portie Club Portuguese Water Dog Health Testing
Our breeding dogs are DNA tested through Optimal Selection for up to 275 genetic conditions and traits, including breed relevant conditions affecting Portuguese Water Dogs. All Portie Club breeding dogs are genetically clear for these conditions, meaning they are neither affected or carriers.
Our hip X-rays are taken using specific positioning required for OFA evaluation. Prospective families are encouraged to have their veterinarian or veterinarian orthopedic specialist look them over.
Clear status is documented through either OFA certification or Optimal Selection DNA testing, as applicable to each condition.
